Rare Early Set of Six Vladimir Kagan Sling Chairs, circa 1950
Rare Early Set of Six Vladimir Kagan Sling Chairs, circa 1950
This is an extremely rare hand made set of sling chairs from the "Classic Collection." These were made by Vladimir Kagan's father in their New York City workshop prior to the forming of Kagan-Dreyfuss. This set has been evaluated and authenticated by the Kagan Foundation and each chair has its own serial number and has been catalogued with the foundation, as the paperwork shows.
This set has been expertly restored. The sculpted walnut frames were each carefully disassembled and all joinery cleaned and re-glued, the chairs then reassembled. The set is very sturdy and has been professionally refinished for use many years to come. The chenille upholstery is a very warm toned light yellow and has been treated for stain resistance. The frames under the upholstery show mill marks and notations from the original order, as seen in photos.
This rare set includes four side chairs and two arm chairs, now known as VK 101 and VK101A, respectively.
Side chairs measure 19" wide, 26" deep, 36" high, with 19" seat height
Arm chairs measure 26" wide, 26" deep, 36" high, with 19" seat height
